What is SOYoga?
-
SOY (in Spanish) means "being" Yoga in your daily life.
-
Yoga= balance, and union with your essence.
-
Therefore, SOYoga is about experiencing Yoga (balance) in your daily life. Activate your inner power.
-

-
At SOYoga, the core practice is Tantric Hatha, which focuses on the energetic part of the practice, with similar postures (asana) as traditional (Hatha) Yoga.
-
It is a Yoga that awakens your inner power & energy. Or in simple words, "It makes you feel alive". But for understanding this, you need to experience it :)
-
Outdoor Yoga: Rediscover the power of the (Earth's) Elements. Discover why Outdoor Yoga is so important for SOYoga (being Yoga):
–The 4 elements are the key ingredients of life, and without them, it is almost an ascetic endeavour to find inner balance. According to the Tantric tradition –where modern Yoga finds its roots– the senses take centre stage. –Even things such as the need for direct daylight exposure are so basic and self-explanatory, it's now being proven & explained in the field of science –especially by Dr Andrew Huberman. –This is why Outdoor Yoga is such a fundamental part of SOYoga –because generally, in city life, the Earth elements (sunlight, quality air, earth/soil….) are absent in our daily life (including Yoga practitioners working inside studios during winter, and missing the fire & earth elements). Yoga reconnects you to the essence, and this includes attending to your basic needs before Yoga. –It is not "just" Outdoor Yoga –it is a Yoga practice that is designed to reconnect you & rediscover the power of the elements.

What is Tantric Hatha Yoga?
And what does it look like?
*This is not neo-Tantra. Neo (modern) Tantra is mostly related to sex, but the Tantra tradition is not.
-
Tantric Hatha is at the origin of modern Yoga. It focuses on the energetic part of asana for accessing higher states of consciousness. To know more about the history of Tantra and Yoga, click here.

This is a Yoga unlike any other, a Yoga that makes you ignite your inner fire and feel truly alive, in your full power––a Yoga that supercharges your life.

About me
"From Madrid to Zürich "
–My name is Martín Carrascoso, but my Yoga/energetic name is Surya –Sun God who brings light on the way. This is the energy I share in my classes, enthusiastic, bright & warm.
–I am a 550h (EU) certified Hatha Yoga teacher from Madrid, Spain. Where I learned the fundamentals of Yoga from Javier Hernández Viñuelas, a living example of classic Hatha Yoga.
–Tantric Hatha (energetic yoga) is my main practice & the reason why I went deeper into Yoga. “Yoga with superpowers” read more.
–My mission is to discover the full potential of our body –there's so much more our body can do!
–I come from a competitive sports background, mainly swimming, mtb & running (& surfing, waterskiing, etc.).
–Injuries & very tight muscles led me into deep stretching and myofascial release 10 years ago, led by Eneric Marés' (an early PNF proponent).
–Flexibility: when I was 7, I could barely pass my knees. I have experienced this flexibility frustration when practicing Yoga, but now I know the steps toward flexibility & how to adapt your Yoga practice.
–I am also experienced in therapeutic Iyengar yoga, which is specific for deep flexibility, alignment & releasing tension & pain. –My approach to Yoga is Holistic. This is why I work with different Yoga styles, therapies, and environments. Hence SOYoga's signature outdoor yoga sessions. –Today, I continue to learn from the best Yoga masters. Especially from Susann Heimgartner (Yoga Seefeld) and her physically demanding Tantric Hatha sessions & bandha practice. Her teachings, love & immense support is one of the main reasons why I continue to live in Zürich. –I am also grateful to count on the support of the Yoga community in Zürich, with special thanks to Karl Straub (Sanctuary Zürich), who once told me "in every master there is a young master".
